A family villa in South West France, Minervois offers an all-weather tennis court and a private heated pool in the heart of the stunning Languedoc countryside, just 20 miles from Carcassonne. The villa enjoys an attractive forest backdrop and direct access to forest trails in the Black Mountains. A short stroll brings you into the centre of Lespinassière, where a small grocery shop at the Mairie is open six days a week in the summer – simply order your baguettes a day in advance!
Internally, wooden floors, beamed ceilings and tasteful soft furnishings have been used to best effect, along with modern bathrooms and kitchen, to create a tasteful, comfortable and bright home where everyone can relax. The large dining terrace with its wonderful view is a particularly special place to unwind, with a coffee or glass of wine and a guidebook or two...
There are so many places to visit in this area that one week may not be enough! Locally you have the charming village of Caunes-Minervois, where you will find all your amenities as well as markets on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. The compelling UNESCO world heritage town of Carcassonne is only 45 minutes away: as a contrast families might enjoy an afternoon's fun at the Parc Australien here too. There are lakeside beaches and a forestry acrobatic park at Lac de la Cavayère 15 minutes from Carcassonne, both popular places for families. A similar distance, and well worth the trip, are the charming market town of Mazamet and mediaeval Hautpoul, with its interactive toy museum, castle and seasonal events. If you fancy visiting some of the caves for which this region is well-known, head for the Grotte de Limousis about half an hour’s drive away (Cabrespine is another option). For those who are happy to travel a little further afield, there is a wonderful tourist train from Rivesaltes to Axat which takes you through some dramatic and beautiful mountain scenery.
There are also, of course, plenty of vineyards in this part of France, and numerous opportunities for wine-tasting. This family villa in South west France is understandably popular, early booking here at Minervois is always recommended.
