Less than a mile from Le Meridional is the village bakery, a small supermarket and a restaurant: just five miles north you will find the little village of Les Matelles with its restored medieval centre, a small selection of village shops and a couple of restaurants. For a complete change of pace, just 5 miles south you have all the attractions of the city of Montpellier with its vibrant cultural life.

The Languedoc region more than repays a visit, and you may decide to come back again and again. As one of France’s major wine-growing areas there are vineyards galore, there are long sandy beaches (Aresquiers, Grand Travers) and there are Roman cities such as Arles, with its impressive arena and Van Gogh associations. There are towns full of history such as Nimes and Aigues Mortes and attractive ancient villages such as Sommieres with its Roman bridge, summer festival and evening markets. You also have the Camargue – a river delta and national park which is home to nesting flamingoes, as well as to the famous white horses and bulls which live in semi-liberty – and to the north, the Cevennes mountains, all easily reachable from this modern Languedoc holiday villa with pool near village.
