This is another favourite of mine. The house has got a great atmosphere and is ideal for outdoor entertaining, with the table just outside the kitchen door in the shade of the plane tree and the pool beyond, just across the lawn. Another huge advantage - you are in the middle of the village yet you have complete privacy within your lovely walled garden. A bonus of this village is its bread shop - truly amazing, you must try it! Fifty metres from the house is the well-known restaurant “Le Vieux Bistro”, just by the church - where the TV film of Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence was partly filmed - and there is a new restaurant in Coustellet just down the road, called WO Sushi, which may be worth trying. But an absolute must is Maison Gouin. This family-run business comprises restaurant, butcher and delicatessen, all organic. Best of all is that when you have dinner or lunch here you are invited down to the cellar to choose your own bottle. Coustellet is also famous for having the best farmers’ market in Provence: this is held on Sundays and not with the tourists in mind, and so is a truly Provencal experience.
