Provencal holiday house in village location- La Belle Amélie is a delightful Provencal town house in the hilltop village of Caromb, just a short stroll from shops and restaurants. Unassuming and understated from the street, this delightful 18th-century house has been beautifully restored and furnished in order to maintain its original character, whilst bringing it up-to-date in a most elegant fashion. Terracotta and stone floors and beamed ceilings have been retained, and the result is charming and highly appealing.
Another highlight of this villa is its cottage-style walled garden: the terrace is an ideal place to dine al fresco by the persimmon tree or simply to relax with a drink, whilst the cooling fountain cum plunge basin is a very welcome feature on a hot summer's day. The views of Mont Ventoux which you can enjoy from here are the icing on the cake!
Right on your doorstep is the pretty village of Caromb, which offers a choice of good restaurants. This whole area offers many sightseeing opportunities: the lovely little town of Vaison la Romaine is a short drive away, and the city of Avignon is one of the most attractive cities in Southern France and well worth a visit. Wine-tasting may also be of interest to you and, as one of the world's premier wine-producing regions, your only difficulty might be in selecting which estates to visit and which to save for another day!
The peaceful countryside surrounding La Belle Amélie may inspire you to hike along some of the local nature trails and, if you make it to the top of Mont Ventoux, the highest peak in the region, you will enjoy spectacular views which are certainly worth the climb.
And cycling enthusiasts will know that the Tour de France passes through this region in mid July.

I really love this townhouse. It has a real "cottage-type" feel to it with its adorable little garden and plunge basin/fountain. If you are looking for a romantic hideaway for your honeymoon or just feel like spending some time in the middle of a typical French village, this would definitely be the place! The village of Caromb boasts several excellent restaurants: try Le Four à Chaux with its shady terrace at the edge of a stream or La Mirande on Place National. The real top restaurant here though is Le Clos du Patre, although you are sure to eat well wherever you go in this region! La Belle Amelie makes a great base for exploring this part of Provence.
