An excellent choice of shops, restaurants and cafes are to be found in St Remy-de-Provence, birthplace of the 16th century astrologer Nostradamus. Just outside the town is the Roman site of Glanum, one of the largest archaeological sites in Europe.

This region, known as Les Alpilles, is steeped in history. There are impressive ruins at Les Baux de Provence, and a Roman amphitheatre at Arles. To the south of this St Remy villa rental lie the remote and mysterious wetlands of the Camargue, one of Europe's most important ornithological nature reserves, renowned for its pink flamingos, white horses and black fighting bulls.
