Description This Languedoc villa was originally a 12th century priory to the Abbey of Lagrasse, converted into a vineyard domaine in the early 18th century. This imposing property in the South-West of France is now a delightful country home, great for family gatherings. Spacious living rooms are decorated with antiques in keeping with the historic nature of the building, with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. All bedrooms have pool and garden views. Al fresco living at this Languedoc villa is delightful when enjoyed in mediterranean flower filled gardens under the 16th century clock tower. In the Corbieres region of the Languedoc there are a wealth of attractions nearby. Visit the pretty coastal town of Collioure, eat fresh fish at Port Vendres, imagine medieval life in the walled city of Carcassonne. Friendly caretakers reside in an adjoining cottage. Accommodation Ground floor: Formal living room , french doors to garden. Drawing room with panelled walls (TV, DVD, Video, stereo). Dining room for 16. Kitchen/Breakfast room. Master bedroom suite (2m), ensuite bathroom , WC, dressing area leads through to large nursery/childrens room with 3 single beds (0.80m), 2 cots - this is also accessed from the hallway. Double bedroom (1.80m), ensuite bathroom , WC. Double bedroom (1.60m), baby cot, ensuite shower room , WC. Double bedroom (1.40cm) & single bed (0.80m) if required. Shower room , WC. First floor: Double bedroom (1.80m). Single bedroom (large 1.20m boat bed). Single bedroom (0.80m). Bathroom , WC. Grounds: Courtyard with plumbago, bougainvillea, campis & palms. Walled 2 acre park with box hedging & trees. Rose garden. Table tennis in covered games room, barbecue. (The caretakers property is accessed through, and overlooks part of the courtyard). The annual 'vendange' takes place each year in September. The 'Winery' is not far from the house: out of sight, but possibly audible. |
