South of France vacation chateau - Manoir d'Argens is a luxurious manor house with private pool, set within a well-known wine estate, surrounded by vineyards in the heart of the Var region. An impressive 100-year-old sycamore drive leads you up to the house, which was built in 1830 and was once owned by the Grimaldi family of Monaco. It has been sympathetically refurbished in recent years by the owners who have ensured that the property retains its character whilst offering all modern facilities.

You cannot help but have a wonderful holiday in this beautiful corner of the Var: it's a world apart from the bustle and the crowds of the French Riviera, which nevertheless is close by for when you want to enjoy a different pace of life. The nearby village of Le Muy has two of the best outdoor markets in the region, on Thursday and Sunday mornings, and La Motte offers local shops and restaurants. Les Arcs sur Argens, slightly further on, has a very attractive medieval town centre.

Activities available locally include the wine cave for tastings and tours adjacent to the house, marked walking routes around the estate, tennis, golf, riding, hiking in the Rouet forest, rock-climbing in the Gorges du Verdun and quad biking. You might like to spend time visiting some of the picturesque villages of the region, relaxing in pavement cafés, or enjoying the excellent cuisine that France has to offer.  Sainte Maxime is an easy 30 minute drive from this South of France vacation chateau and from here you can take a ferry across to the attractive and lively resort of St Tropez, thus avoiding the summer traffic!
