This charming little cottage is an ideal holiday hideaway on the edge of the Marais near Jard-sur-Mer. Tiled floors, exposed stone walls, high beamed ceilings and simple décor create a cool, relaxed and comfortable environment. The beautiful garden is ablaze with colour during the summer months; relax over a meal al-fresco on the dining terrace and enjoy the gentle views across the canal at the foot of the garden to the open countryside beyond.
This flat landscape is criss-crossed with waterways and canals, known as Marais, covering over 200 acres of land; ideal for cycling and boating. The coastline is flanked by over 800 acres of pine forests, ideal for cooling off in the mid-day heat. There are plenty of trails for hiking and cycling throughout the region, and a bicycle hire shop in Jard offers the perfect solution to getting about without the car.
Jard-sur-Mer is a small but lively town with a largely pedestrianised centre hosting a great weekly market. There are numerous restaurants around the port, which is dominated by the ‘Moulin de la Conchette’, a recently restored windmill. Walk out along the jetty to get the best view of the pleasure boats in the quaint, traditional port. Summer sees lots of events, concerts, festivals and a regatta all held locally.

Double bedroom (1.40m), ensuite shower room, WC, mezzanine with additional single bed (accessed by a wooden step ladder - not suitable for very young children) – this room is accessed via the courtyard only.
Grounds:
Large, flat lawn leading down to a channel of the Marais (approx 50m of lawn then open onto water – not suitable for young children). Large garden terrace with outdoor dining for 6, charcoal barbecue. Small courtyard. There is no pool at this cottage, but the beautiful sandy Atlantic beaches of the Vendee are nearby. Parking for 2 cars.
