Sometimes we book holidays up to a year
in advance, and this can lead to us just teeming with anticipation when the
date of departure draws closer and closer. Before you depart, we love to view
the pictures of our destination and research the best things to do whilst there,
but to make the wait a little bit more bearable, films can be a great way to
pass the time.
Films can take us on a journey to
destinations which we have not yet visited, and also give us an idea of what to
expect. We have picked out three films which are perfect for you if you are
heading to one of our luxury villas in Morocco, France or Italy.
A Good Year
Starring Russell Crowe, A Good Year is the ultimate feel-good film. The
film follows the romantic misadventures of Max Skinner who inherits a vineyard
from his uncle in Provence. After
years of no communication with his Uncle Henry, London banker and bond trader
Max Skinner learns that Henry has passed away, so Max inherits a château and
vineyard in Provence.
Max spent a lot of his childhood there learning
how to win and lose and improving this killer instinct. Max heads to France
with the intention of selling the estate, but spends a few days there trying to
get the property ready to sell but is interrupted by a beautiful woman and an
American woman claiming to be Henrys illegitimate daughter.
As this film is based in Provence, it will
inspire you to explore beautiful vineyards, and enjoy everything which Provence
has to offer. The film delves into traditional French culture, with many scenes
showing mouthwatering French cuisine which will make you even more eager to
start your holiday.
Under the Tuscan Sun
Starring Diane Lane, Under The Tuscan Sun, is a romantic comedy
about a writer named Frances Mayes who has learnt that her husband has been
cheating on her. However, the women who he has been cheating on her with is a
writer who gave Frances a bad review, and this turns her life upside down.
In an attempt to cheer her up, her friend Patti sends Frances on a
tour of Italy. However, during the trip, Frances decides to impulsively
purchase a run-down Tuscan villa and struggles to start her new life in Italy.
Along her way, she runs into some colourful characters. This film will have you
crying with laughter and will encourage you to start your own Tuscan or Italian
adventure this year.
Sex and the City 2
Sex and the City 2 is most definitely a chick-flick but can be the
perfect film to get you in the mood for your holiday to Morocco. While struggling with the pressures of life,
love, and work in Manhattan, Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte join Samantha for a
trip to Abu Dhabi, where Samantha’s ex is in the process filming a new movie.
Even though the film is based in Abu Dhabi many of the scenes were in fact shot
Sex and the City 2 is a sequel to the previous
film, which is equally as hilarious. The cast includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim
Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.
All the desert scenes in Sex and the City 2 were
filmed in Morocco, in the Western Saharan dunes south of Erfoud, just outside a
small town of Merzouga. The dunes are called Erg Chebbi, and they are as
breathtaking as you see in the movie.
