03rd October, 2017
At Quality Villas, we have a range of accommodation in a variety of different, beautiful locations, including some gorgeous luxury Côte d’Azur villas. Recently, our villa consultant, Jeanne, took her first ever trip to the area to explore the region. Below, we ask her about her time spent in the French Riviera, with her interview providing you guidance on everything – from what to pack to what destination should be at the top of your must-see list! Check out her answers below!
You’ve recently returned from your first trip to Côte d’Azur. What places in the area did you visit?
I spent two days in Nice, before visiting other locations such as Valbonne, Vence, Biot, Placassier, Grasse, Mougins, Juan Les Pins, Cap d’Antibes, Villefranche-sur-Mer, St Jean-cap-Ferrat and La Turbie near Monaco.
What would you say were the biggest differences contrasts were between the French Riviera and the UK?
The weather and the food, of course, but also the architecture and landscape. Also, the way of life; the markets with its incredible choice of fruits and vegetables, eating outside and also the fact it gets dark later.
Are there any places on your trip that you missed that you wish you could have visited?
I wish I could have visited Monaco, but I would have particularly loved to have gone to Cascade du Saut du Loup and the Lac du St Gassien.
Do you think the French Riviera is a suitable place for families to visit and why?
The French Riviera is an excellent place for families to go on holiday. There is the sea but also lakes and mountains. The people are very friendly and family-orientated.
When packing for a holiday to the area, what three things would you advise people to pack and why?
An extra bag to bring back all the things you may be tempted to buy there, a guide book and a French/English dictionary!
What was your favourite part of your trip?
Going to the beach and sitting at magnificent terraces eating delicious food and tasting great wines.
If you could go back in time and repeat your trip, what is one piece of advice that you wish you had been told before going?
I went late September, and I knew it would be warm, but I wish I brought more summer clothes with me as it was a lot warmer than expected.
What do you think makes the French Riviera such a popular holiday destination?
The French Riviera has something for everyone; there is great weather, the sea, the beautiful countryside, the mountains. It is a very enchanting place.
What is a must-see destination that you would like to recommend to anyone who is about to book their first holiday to Côte d'Azur?
The old Nice is beautiful and has plenty of great shops, restaurants and bars.
