Family holidays are something that many of us will have fond memories of, for better or for worse. Antica Locanda di Sesto
Family-owned and run, this restaurant will guarantee a good meal and a great atmosphere. Open at both lunch and dinner times, the restaurant strives to offer guests with an authentic Tuscan experience, accompanied by truly delicious food. Each member of their dedicated team works to ensure that the dining experience is a joyful one, from start to finish. Whether you’re visiting with the whole family, or with just two of you, we’re sure you won’t be disappointed.
Pizzeria Dal Ciaccia
Offering a beautiful selection of freshly cooked pizzas and calzones, this small pizza place is ideal to take the family for a stress-free bite to eat. All pizzas are cooked in-house so each slice you choose is guaranteed to be be lovely and fresh. The pizzeria is located just outside of the city walls, but if you’re towards the south side of the city, it won’t be far at all! There is very limited seating which makes this more of a ‘grab and go’ eatery as opposed to a sit-in meal. Nevertheless, the pizza is tasty and of great value, so you won’t want to miss this!
L’isola che non c’era
Just a few steps away from Piazza Anfiteatro, this small restaurant will certainly delight with their fantastic homemade food! Offering both lunch and evening meals, with a grand selection of wine to choose from, the restaurant has made a name for itself by serving great pasta and other Italian classics. The restaurant welcomes children and families, so you’ll have no trouble settling down for an evening meal and it’ll be without the worry of being asked to ‘keep the noise down’.
Offering up a combination of freshly cooked pasta dishes, alongside other Italian favourites, Canuleia is located at the north of the city also just a brief walk away from the Piazza. The restaurant has a selection of both indoor and outdoor seating, meaning during warm afternoons and balmy evenings, sitting outside is a must! Owners Matteo and Eleanora look to offer visitors a variety of dishes cooked using local ingredients, with a selection of great wines. Described as a hidden gem, this small establishment will give you a chance to escape the busy streets of the city and relax with some delicious food.
Also located at the south side of the city is Gelateria Veneta, a small gelato and dessert establishment. Serving up some of the best gelato, milkshakes and pancakes in the city, Veneta is sat just inside the city walls with views of the grand structure. There is minimal inside seating but plenty outdoors, with gazebos and umbrellas to shelter your cold treats from the sun. Many visitors comment on the quality of the flavour of the gelato, which is all made with fresh ingredients. This will definitely be a winner with the whole family!
