A new study from the US News and World Report has ranked France as the best for offering global cultural influence, putting Italy in second place. It came top out of 60 countries, with 16,000 people worldwide asked to associate each of the countries with certain attributes ? other attributes included factors as diverse as adventure and quality of life.

Those who took part in the survey gave France a perfect score of 10 for Cultural Influence, as well as for being trendy, fashionable and prestigious. The report said of France?s ranking: "It is difficult to overstate the influence France has on the world, both in the past and today. "France is one of the world?s oldest countries, and its reach extends around the globe through science, politics, economics and perhaps above all, culture.?

France was also praised by the report for its global significance in the fields of dance, fashion, music, fine arts and literature, which the country has a long history of, while also saying that the country was ?nearly synonymous with wine?. These factors have all also helped to seal France as a must-visit destination for arts and culture.

Heritage was another category which France excelled in, ranking with consistently high scores in four sub-categories: ?has a rich history?, ?has great food?, ?culturally accessible? and ?many cultural attractions?. Part of the reason France was ranked so highly for its heritage was due to its wealth of UNESCO World Heritage Sites (41 in total), including the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

From a traditional chateau in Bordeaux to a Languedoc villa, we?ve got the perfect collection of holiday properties in France, ideal for indulging in the rich culture and history France has to offer.
