Get into the festive spirit at Nice’s Christmas Village

17th November, 2016
In the run-up to Christmas, many towns and villages in France embrace the festive period and come to life with Christmas markets, making for the perfect way to enjoy the winter season.

Nice is home to not only a Christmas market but a Christmas village (Village de Noel), and is one of the best cities in France to visit during this magical time of the year. From December 3 to January 1 the Christmas Village will be found in the city’s Massena Square, near our Nice villas. The famous Massena theatre stands in the background, its striking architecture illuminated with lights. Within the village, visitors will find more than 50 wooden chalets selling gifts, arts, crafts, food and drink, decorated with twinkling lights and, if you’re lucky, dusted with snow.

Among the festive delights you can enjoy as you wander around the village are hot wine and socca, a pancake made from chickpea flour. If you’re looking for something a little more extravagant, there will also be oyster and champagne bars to indulge yourself with.

The village will be open every day from 11am to 8pm, with a wide range of other activities and events also taking place across the day. There will be an ice rink where you can really get into the wintery spirit, as well as a Ferris wheel offering amazing views out over the whole city. A Christmas Parade will also add some festive cheer to the season, with live concerts helping to bring the year to a close.
