Information from the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de
Provence has been released on 2015s wine harvest in Provence, with the initial
details sounding promising for the newest vintage on the market.
The year of 2015 got off to a mild yet wet start, followed
by a dry spell throughout spring and then an exceptionally hot summer,
fortunately interspersed with frequent downpours. This slightly unusual climate
led to much of the harvest being brought forward by several days in many of the
Provence regions vineyards.
It has been predicted that around 1.3 million hectolitres
were produced in the harvest, with this volume expected to produce
approximately 174 million bottles of wine down slightly on 2014s yield, yet
still an impressive figure nonetheless.
A vast majority of the harvest will be
used for the famous Provencal rosé, with some of the 2015 having already been

red wines produced in the region have also had similar accolades bestowed upon
them they are said to have a great ageing potential, and have been labelled
as on par with the excellent vintages of 2007, 2009 and 2011.
