Rouen sur Mer brings sandy shores to the inland city
13th July, 2016
Returning for its eighth year to the popular city of Rouen
in Normandy is Rouen sur Mer (Rouen on Sea), where for a limited time only the
banks of the city’s River Seine will turn into a sandy beach offering fun for
The beach will be open on the city’s western banks every day
until August 7, making it a perfect place to visit if you’re staying at a
Normandy villa this summer.
Transforming the city from a historical gem to a lively
sunny destination, the addition of the beach means the banks of the river are
lined with sand, deckchairs, sun loungers and parasols, making it the perfect
place to relax and soak up the sun if you’re staying far from the coast. As you
walk along the beach you’ll also find swimming pools to cool off in and play
areas for the children to run around in for the ideal summer day out.
The beach along with the wealth of leisure activities on
offer as part of the event mean that adults and children alike are brought
together to enjoy the city in a different way. As well as beach sports such as
volleyball, there will also be evening classes in Zumba and salsa dancing.
Wellness activities such as yoga, pilates and shiatsu are also on offer, while
children can enjoy a number of workshops ranging from kite-flying to origami.
Evening concerts take the fun to be had on the beach well into the night.
