Indulge in luxurious truffles at St Paul de Vence?s market

10th December, 2015
One of France?s best-loved specialties, the truffle, used to add a new dimension to simple dishes and an important ingredient in gourmet cuisine, will be at the centre of a market hosted in St Paul de Vence.

St Paul de Vence is one of the oldest medieval villages on the French Riviera, and is located in the Alpes-Maritimes region of France, deep in the country?s south east, not far from its border with Monaco. On Sunday 20 December, it will be hosting a day long market event dedicated to truffles at the Place de Gaulle, known as the marché de la truffle.

The market will not only feature a market with stalls by large and small local truffle growers and producers, but also a host of other gourmet delights to accompany the truffles and grace your dining table during the festive period. You?ll be able to taste the new lease of life that the truffle brings to an omelette with the tastings on offer before you buy some to take home, and there will also be demonstrations of how truffles are hunted, complete with truffle hunting dogs. To round off the day, you can also enjoy a glass of warm mulled wine (vin chaud) and live music.

The market is a great way to gain an insight into rural life and what it?s like to be a local in this beautiful corner of France, and events like this will make you want to return to our holiday cottages in France time and time again.
