There is nothing quite like a magical sunset to really make you feel like you’re on holiday, which is why we’re pointing you in the direction of the best sunset spots on the Amalfi coast, so you can find that fairy-tale sunset moment on your holiday.
Mount Solaro – Capri
Taking a chairlift from Capri right up to Mount Solaro will not only give you interesting views on the way up, but it will also give you the most breathtaking, panoramic views once you reach the top. This really offers an ideal spot for a glorious sunset to take place.
The chair lift isn’t recommended for children, but that doesn’t mean they have to miss out! You can take a trail by foot which begins at the Piazza della Pace in Anacapri behind the cemetery. Be prepared for a steep adventure, though that being said, the directions are clear and the trail itself isn’t overly strenuous.
You will reach the peak in around an hour if you choose to walk, and when you reach the top you will be greeted with a cafè with some rocking chairs to relax in, and of course, the sensational panoramic views.
Villa Comunale in Sorrento – Day trip
Taking a day trip to Sorrento in pursuit of the best sunset spots is totally understandable, which is why Villa Comunale is an excellent recommendation for your sunset excursion. This beautifully manicured park offers exquisite gardens and one of the best views you could ask for in southern Italy. You can see an outstanding view of the Gulf of Naples, with iconic landmarks including the fascinating Mount Vesuvius.
This is hailed as one of the most romantic spots in the town, so a sunset can only add to this experience. There is plenty to do in the park such as visiting the Church and Cloisters of San Francesco or have a drink at one of the beach clubs. There is also a marina if you want to watch the sunset over a peaceful sea view.
Piazza San Gennaro – Praiano
This tiny, stunning fishing village is often overlooked by tourists, which means peace, quiet and authenticity. This gorgeous village is home to colourful mazes and pretty pastel cottages, with tiled shrines outside created by the local families to protect their home. Follow all the way up to the top of the hill to find Piazza San Gennaro, which offers you an all-encompassing view of the Amalfi Coast and Capri.
This is hailed as one of the best places to enjoy an outstanding sunset on the Amalfi Coast, as it is, according to the locals, the optimal west-facing position.
