The Deauville American Film Festival, or Festival du cinema américain de Deauville

Since its creation in 1975, the festival has highlighted the diversity of American cinema, from the Hollywood blockbusters to independent films and constantly strives to find new talent. There are more than 100 films presented to the public at three venues in the town, and the event is open to everyone, from film fans to professional filmmakers.
Over the years, many stars of American cinema have been at the festival including Gregory Peck, Elizabeth Taylor, Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Robert De Niro and Morgan Freeman. You may be rubbing shoulders with some of Hollywoods elite when at the festival yourself!
The festival also includes awards, with one film getting the Grand Prix, the equivalent of Best Film, and there is also Prix du Public voted by festival attendees. Other awards that are voted for by a jury panel of French filmmakers and directors include the Prix du Jury, Prix de la Critique Internationale and Prix dOrnano-Valenti. Every year the festival is split into several categories that include the films in the competition, directors and filmmakers meeting and talking to the public and also a preview of the best TV series.
