For families who love the outdoors, look not further than the peaceful little village of Brossac. Located in the south Charente, south-west France, it's perfectly located to make the most of its surroundings. Brossac itself is a picturesque little place with its old Roman church and village shops including a lovely bakery, a couple of great restaurants and a small market every Saturday. There's a sleepy, friendly atmosphere to the town, which is perfect after a full day’s activities. Try the Village de Vacances, a nearby lake in the Etang Vallier where you’ll find a beach, a place to take out a small rowboat, and even a rope swing with a special leather strap to help you achieve the biggest splash you can muster. Prefer dry land? There’s mini golf, hiking, horseback riding, tennis, golf and football in the area or maybe a hike around the south Charente. Whatever you fancy doing, there's something for everyone in the family. Also nearby are the prominent wine cities of Bordeaux and Bergerac, and the brandy town of Cognac.
