Famous for its cheese, Selles Sur Cher in the southern area of the Loire valley is certainly worth seeing. A charming little village, this is the place to eat out and taste the renowned goats cheese, for which the town is known. Producing it here since the 19th century, it’s certainly a delicacy you should try, along with the delicious local wine of course. There are plenty of restaurants in Selles Sur Cher ranging from traditional French cuisine to pizzerias and hotel fine dining. Whilst here, visit the impressive Chateau de Selles sur Cher. Consisting of three chateaux in one, there are the original groundwork dating from 935, a 13th century Medieval castle and 17th century Renaissance chateau. Plenty to look around. With residents such as Richard the Lionheart and the Black Prince, as well as visits from Joan of Arc, its history is as impressive as the architecture. Other than that, relax and enjoy the stunning Loire Valley, its rich landscape, medieval towns, delicious wine and of course a little sunshine.
