A marine delight for the whole family, the former fishing village of Audierne in Brittany, is a pretty fishing port on the estuary of the Goyen. The town’s harbour sees an abundance of lobsters and crayfish bought in, but it’s now better known as a yacht harbour. And what a harbour it is. Here you’ll find an array of cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, and on Saturday morning there’s a delightful farmers market. It really is a picturesque place, and when the light hits it at the right moment, a photographer’s fantasy. There are sheltered family beaches, places to surf, and a lovely walk across the ‘chemin de halage.’ Be sure to explore the deep blue seas and make your way to the Aquarium, home to sharks, shellfish, eel and octopus, and enthral the family with the Aquashow – a chance to see some of the world’s most amazing birds flying above you in a 45-minute extravaganza.
