Holiday chateau to rent in Brittany - Set on a 15th century estate, this superb period property is one of the most important Grand Manor Houses in France, with documented history dating back to 1344, with the benefit of being walking distance from the sandy beach of St Tugen and close to many pretty coastal towns in Brittany.
This stunning chateau, which has been continually inhabited for 500 years, has been carefully restored and refurbished with enthusiastic advice from La Societe de Batiments Historiques de France. The 100 acre estate includes a small chapel, disused but charming, a 15th century dovecote, a lake and apple orchard, swimming pool and tennis court. All facilities on the estate will be shared by guests staying in the Manor House, Garden Wing or The Tower.
A local traiteur can prepare delicious meals - suckling pig or wonderful fresh Breton lobsters and much more: you will be spoilt for choice. The lively summer resort of Audierne offers a wide choice of restaurants and cafes. Within walking distance of this property is also the long sandy beach of St Tugen, ideal for spending both active and relaxing days by the sea. “ Audierne is the local colourful fishing port, good for seafood, crepes and of course Calvados! The local daily market 'Les Halles' is good for fresh produce. Restaurants near the property include L'Etrave (0033 02 98 70 66 87) and Chez Annick (0033 02 98 70 90 79) - but if you prefer catering services are also offered at the manor itself. The local tourist office in Audierne has a wealth of other information, or call on 0033 (0) 298 70 12 20. And if you are travelling out of high season you may like to know that there is a public indoor pool complex (with water slide plus sauna & Jacuzzi) less than two miles from the estate (please call us for details). ”
We spent absolutelly fantastic holidays in the Manor house, with our - within 3 weeks always changing frineds - 15 to 18 friends who were always present. Egverybody was flabbergasted with the spirit of the place. The magic fire place in the eating hall was "on" every night. How inspiring! Great beach only 20 minutes walk from the place!
I just wanted to say another thank you for the support you gave to help me to arrange my husbands 50th Birthday surprise at the 'Breton Manor Estate'. Everything went to plan and my husband loved every minute, he just couldnt believe it as our friends started to arrive, and especially his children! Being able to get into the house earlier in the day really helped me, and M. Daniel was fantastic, he was so helpful and accommodating, it made all the difference. The party night was magical, everyone had a fantastic time, M. Carou prepared a superb meal and the waiter was very professional and did an excellent job. I also managed to get the fireworks, so everything worked out as we planned; it was a great interlude in the evening! We were lucky enough to have friends who are also professional musicians staying with us, so we all enjoyed the impromptu jams after supper. It was a magical week for us all, and I feel sure there is a lot of interest in booking again. As a group, we have booked several big houses over the last 10 years, and this one was the best so far. Thank you! Kind regards Clare Patrick
