Farmhouse Brittany - accommodation in Morbihan. Situated on the shores of the beautiful Golfe du Morbihan on the southern coast of Brittany, this semi detached, 16th century stone barn conversion in Brittany offers views over the tidal bay, with anchored boats and oyster beds: a classic Breton landscape. 

The Grange is light and airy, with original features including stone walls and high ceilings, brought up to date with modern furnishings and fittings. A large first floor balcony leads from the living room, providing an ideal setting for a relaxing evening meal. A stroll down to the small, rocky shoreline gives the best views across the bay. There is a sailing and windsurfing school 500m from this farmhouse Brittany and the protected waters of the bay make this a sailing paradise.

This whole area is criss-crossed with coastal paths and cycle tracks and Port-Blanc, just 1 km away, has a wonderful beach, summer ice-cream parlours, creperies and bars, and a small port offering five-minute boat trips to the charming Ile-aux-Moines, the largest of the many islands in the Golfe du Morbihan. Visit one of the many sheltered harbours and inland market towns around the bay which offer a bounty of fish restaurants. Tennis and golf are just 3 km away, and boat hire in Arradon 5 km. The medieval town of Vannes is a must to visit, and further afield is Carnac, famous for its megalithic stone. 

Insider Tips

Grange du Morbihan offers the chance to live in the heart of a small, local community, interacting with the locals and perhaps even practising your French! There is lots to do in the surrounding area - watersports enthusiasts will enjoy the activities on offer, whilst other attractions include an aquarium at Vannes, a delightful seaside golf course at Baden (not a links course, but challenging all the same!), ecological gardens (e.g. Jardin du Prahor), plus the interesting, medieval architecture of many of the surrounding towns. Port Blanc itself is charming, with cycle paths and a small port offering boat trips to the miriad of tiny islands in the Golfe. There is also a good sandy beach.

First floor (accessed from external wooden staircase or internal stairs):
Open plan and spacious living/dining/kitchen (TV, CD, DVD), natural stone walls, open fireplace, baby grand piano and modern fitted kitchen, French doors to large wooden deck/terrace, outdoor dining facilities.

Attic: (Via spiral staircase)
Double bedroom, (TV), integral bathroom. WC

No pool. Flat lawn to side of property (across driveway) with mature tree. Gas BBQ. Pathway leading to the rocky sea shore with steps down to sea level. Although swimming is possible from this area at high tide, clients should be aware there are oyster beds present in certain areas and low tide swimming is not possible. Swimming at high and low tide is possible 500 metres further along the coast.
Care with young children - open tread internal and external stairs, and grounds not enclosed to rear/seashore.

NB:  The Grange is a conversion of part of a large, 16th century stone barn; the other part has also been converted into a separate home. 
There are several other houses in this charming hamlet, formerly the Manoir de Cardelan estate on the outskirts of Port Blanc. These are clearly visible from the terrace of the Grange, and all share access to the sea shore. A single storey property with pool behind the Grange shares the driveway, which runs next to the Grange through the garden area. 


Included: Wi-Fi internet on request for 2 week rentals. 2 hours maid service on Saturdays for 2-week bookings.
