Imagine a picture-postcard seaside resort, complete with narrow cobbled streets lined with classic traditional restaurants, a luxury harbour and an atmospheric old town. Antibes is the reality. Located in the Cote d’Azur, this photogenic resort, has much to offer, as Picasso and Graham Greene, who lived here, found out. Apart from embracing the atmosphere of the historic old town contained in the city’s ancient ramparts, there’s a typical Provencal market, restaurants and bars serving fresh seafood, and even the old lighthouse, which offers one of the most spectacular views in the region. Fancy something more luxurious? Head on down to Antibe’s glitzy harbour where multi-million-pound yachts are sheltered. If you’re there in April, be sure to visit the Antibes Yacht Show for a splendid display of the finest yachts. There’s also The Festival of Saint Peter where a colourful procession runs through the town, followed by the local fishermen.
