Nestled in amazing countryside full of oak, olive and lemon trees, the pretty town of La Colle-Sur-Loup in the Alpes-Maritimes region of south east France is a delight. Only ten minutes from Nice, and under an hour from ski resorts, it is perfectly located. But, there’s enough at La Colle-Sur-Loup to keep you busy. Enter through the Canadel gate to soak up the atmosphere of the historic centre. Full of shady squares, there’s plenty of spaces to enjoy a coffee or fantastic meal, browse the many antique shops, and wander around the alleyways brimming with beautiful old buildings and pretty fountains. There’s also a 12th-century priory-turned-restaurant and a Romanesque chapel to explore. And finally, the river ‘Loup’ - a real attraction. Its peaceful waters are perfect for ambling along, and there’s two parks (La Gueriniere and Roubert), which are very welcoming and hold festivals. There’s also a horse and pony club, if you so fancy.
