Retaining much of its 16th-century character, the lovely town of Valbonne in the Alpes-Maritime region of South France is certainly a place to visit. Unlike many other medieval villages, its streets are laid out in neat rectangles, amongst which you'll find welcoming restaurants and little shops. It's in the Places des Arcades though where you'll find many cafe terraces and shops surrounding the square, boasting a lively atmosphere as locals and tourists alike go about their day. Beside the village, there's a little shopping complex where you'll find everything you need for daily life. Valbonne is very much an active town, and its villas and stone houses stretch far beyond the village centre. If you're in Valbonne on the first Sunday of the month, be sure to visit the bric-a-brac and antique market for a lovely shopping experience. And if you fancy a day trip out to the seaside, make your way to the renowned beach resort of Nice.
