Mountain and beach holiday in one! This wonderful, 19th century renovated farmhouse is set in a small hamlet, with a delightful walled garden surrounded by vines, orchards and fabulous views over the Pyrenees, just 10 minutes from the Mediterranean coast at Canet-en-Roussillon.

A recent renovation and extension project by a renowned local architect has transformed this once simple Catalan farmhouse into a sophisticated, modern home without compromise.  Traditional features combined with the use of natural, local materials, finished with a blend of modern and antique furnishings and creative use of colour make a wonderfully warm and welcoming family home. The large flat lawn and play equipment will keep children happily occupied whilst the adults keep a watchful eye from the terrace and possibly sample some well-known wines of the Banyuls-sur-Mer vineyards. The newly-built pool is set in a walled and gated area making it ideal for families with younger children.

The real draw here must surely be the location; the foothills of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea are both just a short drive away. Within 5 minutes you can reach the shops and restaurants of Canet-en-Rousillon, and 5 minutes further its lovely harbour and the all-important golden sandy beach. Nearby Perpignan offers a vibrant caf culture and Ceret has the stunning Pont du Diable bridge over Le Tech river. Prades is the gateway to the Parc Naturel Regional des Pyrenees Catalanes with extensive opportunities for hiking. Day trips into Spain or along the French coast to Beziers and Cap dAgde, or to the medieval fortified town of Carcassonne are all possible, but with so much on offer locally, you may not want to stray too far afield.

“ I love this part of the Pyrenees Orientales; between the golden sandy beaches of the Med, and the snowy peaks of the Pyrenees. And this villa is perfect for enjoying all of it - country location but close to town, easy reach of beaches and mountains, surrounded by vines.  It is really spacious and the garden is great for kids. The views are superb, especially from the newly added tower where you can even see the sea - spot on! If you are heading into the mountains, I'd thoroughly recommend a visit to the village of Riberach where there is an unexpected Michelin starred restaurant La Cooperative and wine safaris can be arranged. Closer to home, try a spa treatment at Les Flamants Roses Hotel and Spa in Le Canet and if you quote QUALITY VILLAS you will get a little extra goodie bag. Same applies to the restaurant l'Almandin in St Cypriere. ”
