Perfectly situated to make the most of authentic French village life, L’Ecurie, originally stables built in 1606, is nestled in the heart of Sablet – a small village in northern Provence. With winding stone streets wrapped around a central 12th Century church, the circular village is surrounded with over five working vineyards that form part of the Cotes Du Rhone appellation.
Conveniently located just two minutes’ walk from the charming village bakery, pharmacy and grocery shop, pretty L’Ecurie is a delightful hideaway with private splash pool and cosy accommodation over four floors. Once a stable, the characterful house has been restored with care, and the main open-plan living area is well furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. Stunning views of rooftops and Cypress trees abound from every window, lending a feeling of light and space to the living accommodation. A staircase leads down to the kitchen – complete with warm, red cabinets under a stone ceiling, and equipped with every essential required for an amenable stay. From here, doors lead out to the sunny terrace which offers ample seating, access to the wonderful pool through a gate, and steps down to beautiful gardens beyond.
To the first floor, a master bedroom with double bed and en-suite can be found, plus a further double with shower room. Stairs lead up to a third double bedroom with adjoining shower in the attic room, with stunning views of the Dentelle de Montmirail mountains and hazy vineyards stretching into the horizon.
Wonderfully located for trips to the local wineries and vineyards, Sablet is also within easy reach of other gems of Provence – the well-known town of Vaison La Romaine with its weekly Tuesday morning market, fascinating historical churches and architecture, numerous festivals, art exhibitions and bustling café squares is just 7km away by car. Sablet is also easily reached from Avignon, enabling visitors to arrive by rail in just 2.5 hrs from Paris.
“
I encourage guests to visit a local vineyard . Sablet is surrounded by some very famous villages which produce the well known wine of Cote du Rhone . The famous wine is produced in Gigondas, Vacqueras, Roaix and Seguret.
The village of Sablet is lovely, our customers will find everything they need within walking distance from our village house. They can play Jeux de boules in the village, go to a restaurant or buy a baguette or a lovely cake in the local bakery.
If guests want to visit historical places, I would recommend Vaison la Romaine and Orange.
