Villars is a pretty little village located on the Var River, in the Vaucluse region of south east France. Just a half-hour drive from Nice, itís also perfectly located. Situated on a small road that winds its way up a hill through fantastic Luberon countryside, the village is tranquil and far away from the crowds of other nearby resorts. However, still very active, Villars hosts some lovely flower, craft and local produce markets, exhibitions and even a Spring music festival. You can also enjoy walking around its narrow streets with beautiful stone houses against a natural backdrop of picturesque countryside boasting vineyards, cherry orchards and tiny hamlets, it has inspired many painters over the years including Paul Guigou, who was born in Villars in 1834. Thereís a series of walks you can take through these stunning landscapes surrounding the village, taking in the sights of the Chapel of Saint Pierre at Bagnols and the Chapel of Saint Clement.
