As you would expect from the name, Bormes Les Mimosas, is a pretty village covered in an abundance of flowers. Boasting a medieval centre and sea harbour within its commune, this hilltop village in the Var region of the Cote d'Azur has certainly got appeal. A walk up to the top of the village will lead you to the ruins of the 13th century chateau, and even further, an observation table. Both sites offer a fantastic outlook. Then, take some time to stroll around the narrow, well-decorated streets that cascade down the hill, and open onto little piazzas of shops and delightful little houses. Wednesday morning is market day. Situated on the flank of the forested Maures Mountains, covered in Mimosas, of course, Bormes Les Mimosas is a lovely place to hike through, and there are the beaches of Cabasson, Estagnol and Pellerin nearby to cool off. And, donít forget the Route du Mimosa - an annual inter-village celebration of the bright yellow flower - a real spectacle.
