Just inland from St Tropez, in the heart of the Massif des Maures mountains, youíll find the peaceful village of La Mole. Surrounded by stunning forests, itís a beautiful place to walk or cycle, admiring the oak, chestnut and olive trees that dominate it. Complete with a marvellous brightly-coloured church and pretty bell tower, it has a pleasant shady picnic area next to it - a charming place to relax and enjoy the country air. You can then walk off your hearty meal, taking the road up to Verne Lake or the top of the hill where the ruins of the original village lay. It is nearby, where French aristocrat and writer wrote his world-famous book, The Little Prince. The classic chateau where he lived with his grandparents is mentioned in the book, but unfortunately is not open to the public. Perfectly located to explore Provence and St Tropez, this is a charming village.
