Many who visit Sainte Maxime head here for the beach life, and this lovely seaside resort in the Var region on the French Riviera certainly has those. Situated along the Mediterranean coast, backed by the infamous Maures mountains, they are well protected from the winds, making this a wonderful place to enjoy a spot of sunbathing, although there’s watersports for those feeling slightly more active. The town itself is charming with gorgeous cafes, restaurants and bars, many of which open after hours for those looking for a livelier scene, and on Thursday morning you’ll discover a lovely Provencal market. For families, there’s Aqualand – a large water park, and a botanic garden – a perfect spot to have a picnic. One of the more popular beaches is Plage de La Nartelle, but for families – Plage du Centre Ville is a great choice. It’s very close if you’re staying in town, has a promenade to stroll along and enjoy your ice cream, and there’s a playground. For an excursion, Saint Tropez and Port Grimaud and the pretty village of Gassin are nearby.
