Set in the heart of Bergerac wine country, itís no surprise that Saussignac in the Dordogne region of south-west France produces some renowned wines, notably its medium-sweet white. The village itself has a lovely restaurant, post office, bakery and tennis courts for those want activity, but itís also bordered by many other smaller communes, all producing their own wines. Saussignac is also very close to the medieval city of Bergerac, which is truly enchanting, and well worth a visit. There is, without question, many vineyards in the area to explore, and a lovely fruit and vegetable market on a Wednesday morning. There are also a couple of chateaus including the Chateau Haut Garrigue where you can taste the delicious organically and biodynamically farmed natural wine.
