La Vieille Ferme is a charming French villa for families set in 20 acres of vineyards with far reaching views. It is a carefully restored, old French farmhouse with typical low beamed ceilings, antique furniture, paintings and tapestries. The stone walls and terracotta floor tiles add to the cosy farmhouse atmosphere. A comfortable covered dining terrace with barbecue and a generously-sized, heated infinity pool ensure that you will have a very enjoyable stay.

The local village of Saussignac, just a mile down the road, has a restaurant, bakery and post office. A wider selection of amenities can be found in the market town of Ste Foy la Grande. The delights of the river Dordogne are only minutes away and the surrounding countryside is ideal for country walks, horse riding and golf. The nearby Chateau de Montbazillac is well worth visiting, and there are numerous attractive medieval bastides (walled towns) in the area such as Issigeac and also Eymet, where evening markets are held in July and August.

For a change of scene there is a karting centre and aqua park at nearby Bergerac. This area is also well known for its Perigourdian restaurants - local specialities include patés and foie gras, truffles and walnuts. This truly is wine country, however, with hillsides covered in vineyards in every direction, and there are plenty of opportunities to taste some of the famous wines of the Aquitaine region.

This charming French villa for families has been tastefully furnished and is well maintained by its conscientious owners. It would make an excellent base for a superb holiday.

“ Photographs can never do justice to this farmhouse and cottage; all who visit say the same!  Gorgeous pool overlooking the vineyards and hanging baskets bursting with flowers.  The house is just as good with its comfy furniture, tapestries and wonderful master bedroom with four-poster bed.  A very popular house and you can be assured of a great holiday and of being well looked after by the owner.   ”

  • A magnificient place

    Mr & Mrs Wedd

We stayed in La Vieille Ferme in July this year and didn't get around to sending in our review until now. It is a magnificent place to hide away from the rest of the world. The view over the pool to the vines and beyond is truly magical, and the bedrooms with large comfortable beds were wonderful. With lots of room for the children to run around and play outside, while their parents enjoyed some impressive local wines, it is very hard to beat. We even managed to experiment with a little french cooking in the well appointed kitchen while we were there which was a treat. We really appreciated the effort and care the owners went to with the preparation and presentation of the property. Their welcome pack was extremely generous and the villa was clean and well presented. We would recommend it to others and would stay there again when visiting the region.
