The ancient village of Ambra, in the Arezzo province of Tuscany, is one of the oldest in the region. As soon as you enter, this becomes apparent. Winding, narrow streets make their way up to the medieval centre where you’ll get a great view of the hilltop castle, and something a little different. In the summer, many concerts and cinema nights take place under the stars, in the shadows of the castle walls – a wonderful experience in this historic village. With Ambra bordering Chianti, enjoy a glass of the local celebrated wine in one of the lovely restaurants in town, and there are a few shops to wander round, including a well-respected shoe shop. A lovely town from which to explore, there are plenty of vineyards nearby in the world-renowned Chianti district, or the fabulous towns of Monte San Savino, Castelnuovo Berardenga and even Florence, Siena and Arezzo.
