The hills really are alive in Camaiore, a town in the province of Lucca, Tuscany. Whether you want to go for a relaxing walk, visit historic churches or saunter through a nearby pinewood to the Grotta all' Onda, a huge cave, once home to the ancient Neanderthals, there are treasures to be discovered. ?Apart from plenty of places to eat and relax, there’s interesting places to visit such as the museum of Sacred Art, but for all the family, a visit to the beach is a must. Lido de Camaiore has fine sand lined with parasols and loungers, pine woods, a lovely promenade and small shops, cafes and restaurants. There’s even a small park for children.??If there’s one culinary delight you should try, it’s the unfortunately named pink Camaoire lard, a traditional salami made from a pig’s back. Usually enjoyed spread thickly on freshly baked bread, it serves as a great lunch in the mountains.
