As the name might suggest, the petite Tuscan mountain town of Caprese Michelangelo, in the province of Arezzo, was once home to renowned Renaissance artist, Michelangelo - a beautiful ancient town, and one in which you can visit The Palazzo del Podesta, where Michelangelo was born. Now a museum showcasing reproductions of his amazing work, it's a mecca for art lovers everywhere. Set in an abundance of wonderful countryside with panoramic view of the Upper Tiber Valley, Caprese is certainly food for the soul. The town itself is still very much a traditional Tuscan town, where you'll find lovely buildings such as the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista - a delightful old church. Another famous resident of the area is the humble chestnut, the most important agricultural product of Caprese. Celebrated every year at the Sagra della Castagna (Chestnut Festival), this is a real party full of culinary delights.
