Cetona is quite simply beautiful, and it’s clear why many illustrious figures visit or live there, including fashionista Valentino. Perched on a hill overlooking the Valdichiana in the province of Siena, this enchanting circular Tuscan town has much to offer. Surrounding the hilltop, the photogenic Rocca (fortress) contains a square tower and inner fortress, which keeps watch over the town, and Piazza Garibaldi is the social hub. Boasting a couple of lovely bars, it’s the perfect spot to people watch. With Monte Cetona, the impressive mountain on which Cetona lays, and the stunning countryside bursting with pine, cypress trees, and ancient olive groves there’s plenty to explore. Cyclists, runners, joggers and nature-lovers will delight in following the footpaths that meander around the hills. Be sure to take your camera, and if you come across a local vineyard or olive grove, be sure to pay a visit; you’ll be in for a treat.
