This stunning, Florentine hunting lodge sits within a large country estate close to the village of Impruneta, just 15 mins south of Florence. Dominating a south facing hill, it looks out across the estate's formal Italian gardens to the beautiful Chianti hills beyond. Two live-in staff ensure the smooth-running of the house, leaving you free to relax and enjoy your well-earned holiday in this tranquil setting.

Designed by architect Giuseppe Poggi, one of the greatest Italian architects of the 19th century and creator of the Piazzale Michelangelo and Piazza della Liberta, this villa's facade is a gentle nod to Neo-classic architecture.  Inside, its history as a country retreat and hunting lodge is evident.  Large rooms allow the use of deep colours and rich fabrics and antique furnishings adorn every room, evoking the splendour of a bygone era. But the lodge has not been left in the past completely - all bedrooms are air-conditioned, there is a cinema room, huge swimming pool, Hamman and gym.  The extensive grounds were designed by Pietro Porcinai and include a rock and rose garden, pond with water lilies, a feature fountain and lawns enclosed by beautifully shaped hedging.

Unmissable Florence is easily accessible, however in order to avoid the challenge of finding parking in the city, there is a bus route that runs from Impruneta to the city centre. Florence is one of Italy' s major centres of renaissance art and is a great city for walking and enjoying the sights, perhaps with a little designer shopping before relaxing in one of its many trattorie or restaurants.  For the best view over Florence and the Duomo, stop off at Piazzale Michelangelo en route into the city - the Poggi building in the square was originally destined to become a museum dedicated to Michelangelo, but is now a cafe. To the south, the beautiful Chianti region and Siena are within easy driving distance.

Insider Tips

This is the perfect location for peace and quiet - a 1km driveway through olive groves and woodland to reach the villa.  But it is also so close to Florence!  This has been the country residence of a wealthy and influential Tuscan family for generations and this is reflected in the quality of the house and furnishings.  The grounds are beautiful and the views stunning.   15 minutes by car and you are in one of Italy's most beautiful cities.
