Italy villa walking distance to restaurant - Casa Villaggio is a beautifully restored Tuscan farmhouse with a private pool in the Mugello, just to the north of Florence in the foothills of the Apennines. The property enjoys a picturesque position next to a medieval church with bell tower and a Palladian villa. There is also an excellent restaurant and cafe within a few minutes' walk of the property.

Part of Casa Villaggio dates back to the 13th century when it served as the original church. It has been sensitively restored with a striking mix of contemporary and period furniture, effectively combining comfort and style. The landscaped garden provides day-long sun and shade, the large private pool is surrounded by comfortable loungers and the furnished gazebo is perfect for enjoying the delightful views. There is a private south-facing covered terrace, providing welcome shade for al fresco dining or you can choose from a number of other dining areas around the garden. Breakfast under the fig tree in late August is a special treat!

The surrounding area of the Mugello is where many Florentines come to holiday and is largely undiscovered outside of Italy. Nearby Scarperia is an ancient hilltop town well known for its bespoke cutlery and battlements. The Mugello autodrome is a short distance away for motoring enthusiasts!
The real pleasure is a day trip into the city of Florence itself, about a 40-minute drive away.

So many people ask us for villas within easy walking distance of a good restaurant - well Casa Villaggio is one such. It won't take long to start relaxing into your holiday here, in these  comfortable and tastefully-refurbished rooms. And outside you have a sizeable pool and lovely garden with plenty of sunny and shady areas.
A peaceful place, this villa lies deep in the heart of Tuscany. Nearby Scarperia has been named as one of Italy's "most beautiful villages" ("Borghi piu belli d'Italia"). You'll want to visit Florence of course, but the excellent public transport links here mean you don't have to drive and struggle with parking. And if you are a gourmand, do go to the attractive old university city of Bologna which is a by-word for good eating throughout Italy. It's just over an hour away and well worth the trip. If it's sports and exercise you're after you can go walking or horse-riding in the Mugello valleys, or opt for water sports at nearby lake Bilancino.

  • Casa Villagio

    Mr Rawlinson

Our stay exceeded expectations in many respects. The closeness to the local amenities and the friendliness of the local people helped make our holiday perfect. Add to this the stunning countryside, the rustic feel of the property and sitting out late in the evening amazed at the fireflies will live in our memories for a long time.

  • A wonderful holiday!!

    Pete, Hilary, Di and Ian

We had a great time at Casa Villaggio, the setting was conducive to total relaxation. Excellent facilities, well equipped kitchen and a fabulous swimming pool which we were rarely out of! Viviana was fantastic and not only cooked us a beautiful meal but, as we didn't have a car, she volunteered to take us to the supermarket. Overall a holiday to remember!!

  • Thank you

    Halliday

We loved your villa. It has a great feel and we felt very at home. Havent ventured far as so lovely here but have enjoyed several meals at the restaurant in the village.

  • A wonderful holiday

    The Lister Family

The family Lister had a wonderful holiday here. The weather was gorgeous, hot and sunny throughout. We relaxed, read lots of books ate and exercised in equal proportions. The highlights of our holiday were a trip to Florence, climbing the bell tower, ice cream, the Ponte Vecchio, the pool, and a meal at Trattoria Pallagio. Viviana also cooked us a fabulous meal at the villa which kept us going for three days! Viviana is ace! We will head back to Wiltshire full of sun, rest and familial joy, Thank you! The Listers

  • A lovely week in this great villa

    Lewis Family

Wonderfully appointed, great character, and fantastic eating and living areas. Vivianas meals also a fabulous experience and to be recommended. We ate out in Scarperio - quite formal but good. Il Bronco very good and great views from the terrace.

  • Really enjoyed staying here

    Lax

Probably my best holiday so far. The pool is great. You should climb the bell tower in Florence, the view is amazing. The people in the village are very friendly and welcoming, a really lovely place to stay. The house is beautiful, lovely decor, sad to leave it after calling it home for the past two weeks. Thank you for letting us stay here.

  • Good stay

  • A truly wonderful week

    Mr Freeman

A truly wonderful week in this wonderful home. We did not want to leave. Fancy a meal here? Then book Viviana to prepare a meal. Its well worth it.

  • Would loved to have stayed longer

    Sprinks

Kids loved the pool. Next time I will bring my paints. From the kids - if you ever want to sell we are very interested! Viviana was very helpful , easy to understand even with our poor Italian, lovely lady.

  • Excellent Villa

    Mrs Siobhan Reading

A beautifully presented and maintained villa with stunning views. We all loved it and that includes teenagers and elderly parents. Windows had mosquito nets (thank God). Be warned: you will need napalm strength repellant spray outside, but this did not detract from our enjoyment in any way. Viviana, the caretaker is lovely and will prepare a wonderful Tuscan meal on-site. We strongly recommend her services. All in all, a truly memorable holiday and for all the right reasons.

  • Fabulous Tuscan farmhouse

    Mr Barber

Fabulous Tuscan farmhouse. Extremely comfortable and well equipped. Peaceful surroundings, superb pool. You may find the pool too deep for young children. We loved it. Inside the farmhouse there are open staircases throughout which was not a problem for our family (teenagers and parents) but might be a problem for young children.

  • Everything fine apart from the weather!

    Mr Walsom

Everything was fine apart from the weather (which wasn't Quality Villas' fault!)

  • Generally very good

    Mr Gordon

Generally very good. Very well equipped. Compared well to other villas used previously.
