Montaione Luxury villa - Casa Francigena enjoys an enviable location in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. Surrounded by its own vineyards and olive groves, this elegant two-storey villa has a history dating back 1,000 years to its origins as a cloister on the Via Francigena, the ancient road linking Rome and France.
Beautifully restored by its current owners, the villa offers very comfortable accommodation in a tranquil setting. Two flights of stone steps lead down from the house to the large swimming pool, where you can enjoy the sun or sit in the shade of the mature trees. An attractive loggia for summer dining overlooks the extensive lawns surrounding the pool.
The nearest shops and restaurants are to be found just ten minutes from this luxury villa - in the small town of Montaione. “ If you are interested in history, this Montaione Luxury villa might hold extra appeal for you, positioned as it is on the old pilgrim route between Rome and Canterbury (which passed through France and Switzerland en route). You could spend much of the day relaxing in the loggia, eating together, reading, planning your next sight-seeing trip over an espresso or aperitif, or simply enjoying the view of the gardens. With its lovely lawns and a good-sized pool, this villa is ideal for families or large groups. Here, you are in the gentle undulating hills of Chianti country: vineyards and olive groves are at every turn. Your nearest village is Montaione, where you will find shops and restaurants, as well as food and local crafts markets and numerous musical events (jazz, classical) during July and August. And if you fancy spending time at the seaside, there are several resorts on the Tuscan coastline which would make a great day out.
