Tuscany hills villa near spa Italy – From the moment you turn through the gates into the tree-lined drive that leads to Villa Silvestre, you are bound to feel uplifted. This elegant, prestigious property with private pool enjoys a lovely sunny position in the hills above the spa town of Montecatini Terme with stunning views across the surrounding countryside. Originally the summer residence of a 19th-century nobleman and his family, the house has been beautifully restored and refurbished to appeal to modern tastes. Understated elegance and well-appointed rooms ensure a very pleasant and comfortable stay here. Outside too there is plenty of space: the large pool is located on a raised level just behind the villa with views across to a distant wetland and nature reserve. There are lawned areas to the side and rear, as well as a more formal manicured garden at the front with views across the valley. This setting in the forested Tuscan hills is nothing short of idyllic. Olive oil is still produced on this estate. The olives are harvested by hand: they have a distinctive taste and make the ideal accompaniment to local Tuscan dishes as well as to more delicate fish courses: do try them as soon as you can! Just a mile and a half down the road from Villa Silvestre is a village where you will find shops and good restaurants, and slightly further on at Montecatini there are plenty more, along with some excellent spa facilities. Several of Italy’s most lovely towns and famous places are close at hand – Pisa needs no introduction of course! The walled town of Lucca is well worth visiting: full of history yet vibrant and modern, it would make a very good day out. If you want a day in Florence but don’t fancy driving there and looking for parking, why not pick up the train at Montecatini? There’s a direct link and a frequent, fast service. A trip to the seaside is perfectly possible too, since the coast is less than an hour away. There is something for everyone at this Tuscany hills villa near spa Italy. A truly lovely, peaceful spot in which to enjoy a really relaxing holiday in an elegant and comfortable house, with superb views over the hills and the valley below. If you want to experience the essence of Tuscany this is certainly an excellent place to start: you are within easy reach of Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia and Prato, and you can be in Florence in just under an hour. Siena is only and hour and a half away, so really quite feasible for a day trip too. The beaches are only a 45-minute drive. More locally, you’ll find shops and restaurants just down the road at Massa e Cozzile and Montecatini Terme. You might like to ride on the historic funicular railway which runs from Montecatini Terme up to the picturesque old town of Montecatini Alto where there's a small castle, churches, a large piazza with restaurants and cafés, a few tourist shops, and fantastic views over the countryside. Montecatini has long been known for its springs of course, so a session at one of the spas here (try Terme Tettuccio) would be another excellent idea.”
