The property's enviable location makes it an attractive base to explore Tuscany's major cities and hilltop villages within a comfortable driving distance. Pistoia's Duomo is a striking landmark of this beautiful city which has preserved all its original charm and appeal. Fine buildings, art masterpieces and galleries, as well as designer boutiques, pavement cafes and restaurants contrubute to Pistoia's reputation of elegance and style. From here you can choose to follow the wine route into the Chianti region and taste some of Italy's most acclaimed wines or discover the immense artistic heritage of Tuscany by visiting Florence, Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano, Volterra or Siena. Alternatively, especially if you are travelling with children, you may want to spend some time at the long sandy beaches of the Versilia coast, which offer all sorts of water-sports. After dining in one of Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi's trendy restaurants, you can stroll along the beachfront promenade and enjoy an ice-cream as you watch the world go by.

Please note that the friendly owners and their dog Oscar live next door (partially overlooking the grounds of Borgo Raffaello) and welcome guests on arrival. They are available to help, if needed. However, a thick hedge divides the terraced area from the owners' house at ground level.

“ This holiday villa near Pistoia offers breathtaking views southwards across the city plain as far as Florence, where on a clear day the Duomo is visible in the distance. From here you are very well-positioned to access the splendid city of Pistoia, which is just 3 minutes away by car. The artistic and historical heart of the city is the cathedral square (Piazza del Duomo). Since 1980 this has been the home of the Pistoia Blues Festival (July), a major event on the international Blues calendar that attracts world-famous acts. You are also close to Florence, Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano and Pisa, which would all make very rewarding trips, and only about 45 minutes from the attractive seaside resort of Viareggio if you want to spend time at the beach. The Appennine mountains close by offer sporting, cultural and spa activities. If you want to go horse-riding, head for the splendid 260km-long San Jacopo horsetrail or, if you are more of a spectator, the Pistoia Palio (horse races) are held twice a year, in July and August.
