Rural Tuscany family vacation villa – Il Casentino offers spacious and flexible accommodation, with a larger than average heated pool, in the heart of the lovely Casentino valley and just a mile or so from the nearest town.
Watch this video of Il Casentino on the Quality Villas youtube channel to see for yourself the villa and its amazing environment.
https://youtu.be/4OeRcUHcJmY . With one villa by the pool and the other on the garden side of the courtyard, this accommodation is ideal for extended families or friends holidaying together. Spacious and well-equipped, with tastefully appropriate bespoke furniture and choice pieces throughout, these villas offer the perfect blend of modern living in a traditional, character setting. Thick stone walls keep the villas cool in summer, so there is no need for air-conditioning. Outside there are plenty of places to sit, eat, relax with a book or a drink, or to simply enjoy the view over the valley ... and the grounds are extensive, with more than enough space for children to play or for country walks.
Of course you also have one of Italy’s principal national parks (Casentino) on your doorstep, with horse riding, mountain biking, trekking and guided tours just some of the activities on offer (in winter a 375-mile network of cross country ski runs offers you a seasonal alternative). The main visitor center is at Badia Prataglia, but don’t miss the excellent planetarium at Stia, which runs special events in July and August. If you want an undemanding holiday in the Tuscan hills, surrounded by the quintessential scenery of olive and cypress trees, with attractive hilltop towns nearby and some excellent options for day trips (Arezzo, Florence, San Marino and Ravenna as well as the national park), this rural Tuscany family vacation villa would make an excellent choice. “ This property has a long history, and is waiting for you to discover it! There are some old lanes nearby, one of which leads down to the river Arno near Bibbiena just over a mile away. Bibbiena is your nearest town and you will find restaurants and a variety of small shops here. The villages in the Casentino valley offer you a wide range of appealing restaurants: you might like to try Osteria Toscana Twist in Pratovecchio or Osteria Caranbar in Stia, to mention just two. Great places to visit locally would include the castle at Poppi, the monasteries at Camaldoli or La Verna, and the former home of Michelangelo in Chiusi della Verna. Of course you also have major towns such as Arezzo and Florence - as well as San Marino - close enough to visit for a memorable day out. ”
