Tuscan period villa rental - Centred around a pretty garden, Casa Vittorio is a notable, historic residence set over several levels, elegantly furnished with antiques and typical Tuscan furnishings. The house itself enjoys a village location with other properties in close proximity, but still retains its privacy.

There is an elegant Italian garden complete with lemon trees, a lawn and a good-sized pool with a terrace and sun loungers. The refrigerator by the pool means you can enjoy cool drinks whilst relaxing in the sun. Inside, the reception rooms are decorated in a classic Tuscan style and the bedrooms are comfortable and well furnished.

This ancient village with historical connections dating as far back as the Etruscans has a restaurant, café/bar, supermarket, bakery and butcher. In addition, the castle hosts a white truffle market each year. Slightly further afield is the town of San Quirico d' Orcia (less than 15 minutes by car), whilst Montalcino and Pienza are only about twenty minutes away.

A great villa for a large group - but you will need a couple of cars to get the very most out of this holiday. The villa is located very close to the castle in the pretty little town of San Giovanni d’Asso, in the heart of Tuscany. There are some superb places to visit in this area, such as Montalcino and Pienza, and Montepulciano and Siena a little further on. Florence is only about an hour and a half away, if you want to explore this amazing city. But don't overlook the simpler delights of the charming walled town of San Quirico d'Orcia, just ten minutes' from your villa. If you are here between mid-May and the end of October, do take a ride on the "Treno Natura’ from Siena (Sundays only) - this is such a lovely way to see the Sienese countryside: the train passes through the breathtakingly beautiful Val d'Orcia, which is a World Heritage Site.

Our holiday 8-15 August 2015 in Casa Vittorio Tuscany I know it is now 2 months since you asked for feedback re our stay in the above villa. I apologise for the delay. It was a wonderful holiday, the size and accommodation of the villa for a group of our size (16 adults 2 kids) exceeded our expectations, it was absolutely first class. The village is non-touristic and therefore quiet. The one hotel and its restaurant is expensive. The other restaurant is excellent with reasonable prices. We ordered a cake from them which they delivered to the villa. Food can be ordered from here. We decided to eat in at the villa for a few nights and hired the cook belonging to the villa. What a great cook - see further comments below. Quick summery as Advantages and Disadvantages: Advantages: The owners of the villa obviously love their house. The décor was tasteful and totally in keeping. The maintenance was 1st class, the owner met us on our arrival. Also, on site are her helpful & unobtrusive caretakers. The pool was spectacular shaded seating area toilet fridge. The BBQ and outside dining table was perfect. (We cooked on the BBQ for x2 evenings and each day the caretakers cleaned it) The kitchen is small, the photo shows it to be so. However there is a huge 'cool' pantry off the kitchen with an additional fridge. The balcony/terrace off the main Salon was terrific - we could all assemble easily - it overlooked the Tuscan Hills. The maid: x3hrs per day is included. We hired her for extra duties mainly working alongside the cook. A lovely helpful cheery lady. Nothing was too much trouble. The cook: We hired her for x3 evenings to cook a different meal each evening. She was happy to buy in food/salad/ fruit etc. She and the maid prepared canapes & drinks. Her cooking was excellent. Fantastic - very capable - nothing was too much trouble. She had no trouble cooking for 16 persons in the small kitchen! We booked the wine tasting & truffle evening. The villa has refurbished its old wine cellar, they used it for the 1st time this year. Great atmosphere - great wine & truffles. Disadvantages: The villa is not easy to find. The lack of a bakery in the village. The Wi-Fi router in the villa was poor but the one by the pool was very good. With 16 adults 2 kids, the washing machine was going all the time.... more washing lines, drying area required. Provision of ICE in supermarkets non existent! Your distances/time from various points to the villa are a bit deceptive! We have some very good photos which you might like to consider adding to the villa/description etc. Thank you for the recommendation of Casa Vittorio. A wonderful place. From QUALITY VILLAS: Thank you for the detailed feedback, it was great to read. We will check the distances as mentioned and any descriptive details.
