Peacefully nestled in the idyllic Tuscan countryside, 25-minutes' walk from picturesque Suvereto and just 12 miles from the nearest beach, I Cipressi is a newly restored traditional farmhouse with an enchanting 10-acre private parkland and a secluded infinity pool. Located in the Etruscan area of coastal Tuscany, known as Costa degli Etruschi, it is an ideal base for a holiday in one of Italy’s most famed regions.
This attractive stone built villa offers very comfortable accommodation, set in a truly restful environment, with endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits. How fantastic to be able to walk from the house to the local village restaurant, shops and ice cream parlours! Suvereto is a picturesque medieval village perched on a hilltop, with steep winding lanes leading up to panoramic viewpoints. If you are here in July, you should go to the popular music and gastronomic festival with locals dressed up in period costume; a similar one is held in nearby Campiglia Marittima in August. The proximity to the sea means you can easily spend days on the beach and practise a variety of water sports in Baratti, with its distinctive black volcanic sand, in San Vincenzo or Follonica, all within a radius of 15 miles. In Populonia, you can walk on the ramparts of the ancient castle and enjoy some striking views across the gulf of Baratti, along the coast and the inland forest. If you are interested in archaeology, here you can visit a well preserved Etruscan necropolis and join interesting workshops, especially aimed at children.
Within a few miles you can enjoy inspiring walks in the Montioni National Park as well as wine tasting at the Petra vineyard. And don't forget, of course, you also have some of the world's major Rennaisance cities, such as Pisa, Florence and Siena which would make a perfect destination for day trips. Moreover, a day trip to the Island of Elba is strongly recommended and very easy to arrange. In fact, a regular ferry service connects Piombino, just 17 miles from I Cipressi, to Portoferrario on the splendid Isola d’Elba, rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage linked to Napoleon Bonaparte, its most famous resident!
