Near the east bank of Umbria's River Tiber, is the lovely town of Otricoli. Located in Italy's green heart, it is no wonder there are ample opportunities to walk around the picturesque countryside, sometimes blooming with sunflowers, and in Otricoli's case, meandering river walks through the Tiber valley. Then, after all that walking, seize the moment and relax in one of the village bars or restaurants to experience the local Umbrian fare: particularly truffles, delicate olive oils and of course the wine. There are plenty of other sights to see in Otricoli. Take the amphitheatre, built on archaic foundations, which is worth visiting, the Santa Maria Church, the fortress and Roman remains of Otriculum. It is an archaeological haven.
