Private holiday home on Umbria Lazio borders: Villa Rubia is a completely renovated and modernised country villa, itself built on the remains of a Roman villa, which is set in open countryside between Rome and Florence. It is surrounded by verdant hills and extensive parkland, right on the border between Umbria and Lazio. Not far from here, the river Tiber bends as it is crossed over by the ancient Roman via Flaminia connecting Rome to Rimini on the Adriatic coast through the Apennine mountains.
Situated in a slightly elevated position, Villa Rubia enjoys far reaching views over the fields, olive groves and hills which can be admired from the bedrooms and the living room thanks to its modern architecture incorporating large glass panels, windows and French doors opening onto the garden and terraced patio area. A covered gazebo provides ample space for your summer meals al fresco, surrounded by an enchanting landscape. Children and adults alike will enjoy exploring the grounds of this villa in search of clues from the Roman era and, if you take a pleasant stroll, you can see what remains of a once glorious amphitheatre in Otricoli.
Dotted with many archaeological sites charting its Latin/Etruscan heritage, this area enjoys a very peaceful atmosphere and charm of days gone by. The beautiful but little-known area, known as Tuscia, around the splendid town of Viterbo is a patchwork of the finest Italian landscape where you can find fortified hilltop villages, wild ravines, Medieval monasteries such as Vitorchiano, and age-old pilgrimage routes. During the Renaissance many influential aristocratic families built their palaces in this region chosen for its unspoilt beauty and the proximity to the Eternal City. The convenient location of Villa Rubia enables you to easily reach some of the most attractive destinations in Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. In just over one hour you can in fact sunbathe on the sandy beaches of the Tyrrhenian coast, such as Lido di Tarquinia or Riva dei Tarquini, or on the volcanic beaches of Lake Bolsena where many water sports are available. For everything else, Rome is just an hour's drive from Villa Rubia, and Florence 2 hours.

“ This beautiful villa newly restored offers an ideal solution for people who want to visit Rome and live at the same time in the countryside. The casale is located at about 2 km from the hilltop village of Otricoli in the very south of Umbria. The house was built on the ruins of a small Roman villa and all the area around is dotted with Roman ruins. People of the area are known for their distinctive cuisine, friendliness and hospitality. This wonderful, tranquil region offers visitors a gorgeous, clean, natural environment, as well as medieval art and architecture, and many sites of historical interest in the countryside. Very closed to the villa are the towns of Narni, Amelia, San Gemini, Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto, all historical medieval places, and Terni with its impressive Marmore Falls. ”
