Umbria is known to many as ‘the green heart of Italy.’ This landlocked region of rolling hills, plains for as far as the eye can see and ancient woods is sacred. And San Vernanzo is the perfect town from which to appreciate it. Situated in the Terni region of Umbria, San Vernanzo sits atop Mount Puglia, boasting incredible views out over beautiful farmland and charming hamlets, all of which are worth a visit. In the town there is a lovely piazza. Look out for the festival of its patron saint San Vernanzo to see the square really come to life. In the village there are some lovely cafes and shops including an excellent bakery and a fabulous meat market. The public pool and picnic area is extremely popular. Here you can sunbathe, grab a snack and appreciate the fine Umbrian ambience. As well as the many hamlets of San Venanzo, you’ll also find bigger towns and cities such as Orvieto, Todi and Marsciano nearby.
