“ If you want real luxury in the middle of extensive grounds, unforgettable views and a beautiful, large infinity pool, you cannot go wrong with Domus Romana.
If you base yourselves at this villa you will find it quite easy to visit a number of Italy's best-known towns and cities, all of which offer much to see and do. The pictureque hill town of Todi is only a few miles away: from the villa head down to the Tiber river (a 15-minute drive), then up again to this splendid medieval town (another 5 minutes). Come in July for the spectacular two-week international ballooning competition, or later in the season for the big arts Festival (end of August). If you are here in June or September, go and watch the Quintana, a spectacular costumed jousting tournament in Foligno. If you miss the seaside, head west to the Lago di Bolsena, a crystal clear lake formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. The water is pure enough to drink and the lake teems with fish, some of which are served at the lakeside restaurants. There are volcanic sandy beaches to enjoy, as well as swimming, sailing and boat trips to the islands in the centre of the lake. The crowds haven't discovered it yet, so you won't be struggling through hordes of tourists! Understandably, this villa gets booked up quite quickly. ”
We enjoyed our time at Domus Romana enormously
We enjoyed our time at Domus Romana enormously - we think it's a very special place and our guests all thought the same - from our 25-year-old daughter and her boyfriend to two 70-year-old friends who joined us for a few days. There is so much that is special here - the exquisite Umbrian landscape, the wildlife, the sympathetically appointed house, the beautifully landscaped garden, the large pool and its surrounds, the mulberry tree, the swifts and martins over the pool in the late afternoon, the wagtails that come to drink and paddle, Todi, Enoteca Oberdan, Giuseppina, Francesca, Mario ... I could go on. We are packing up today - reluctantly - and we will say a fond farewell tomorrow - we hope until next year.
We loved the villa
We loved the villa as it is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The views are simply stunning. We did not want to leave the property as we enjoyed the pool, the garden and the views too much!
Domus Romana Stay
The villa was more beautiful than the pictures on the website led us to expect. Everything was clean and well-functioning.
